BeeHeard Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 16, 2026
BeeHeard ("BeeHeard," "we," "us," or "our") operates the BeeHeard web application at beeheard.io and the BeeHeard mobile application for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you.
Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to BeeHeard websites, web applications, mobile applications, and related support services that link to or reference this policy.
BeeHeard is a private communication tool for couples. Because the service handles sensitive relationship conversations, we aim to describe our practices in plain language and limit data use to what is needed to run, secure, and improve the service.
Information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use BeeHeard and which features you enable.
- Account information, such as your name, email address, password hash, and account creation date.
- Authentication information from Google if you choose Google sign-in, including your name, email address, Google profile identifier, and confirmation that your email address is verified.
- Relationship and connection data, such as couple membership records, invite records, partner connection status, archived connection status, and read-state information.
- User content you choose to submit, including in-app messages, Relationship Weather entries, Live Room activity state, Word Weave activity data, and other text you enter into shared features.
- Billing and purchase records, such as subscription tier, billing provider, transaction identifiers, plan period dates, and in-app purchase records. Payment card details are handled by Stripe or Apple and are not stored on BeeHeard servers.
- Notification data, including email notification preferences, push notification preferences, Expo push tokens, device name, platform, and last-seen timestamps for registered devices.
- AI feature data, including the text you submit for message analysis or rewrite features, selected mood or feeling inputs, token usage, model name, cost metadata, and the returned structured result.
- Technical and usage information, such as browser or device type, operating system, app version, timestamps, request origin, and limited security or rate-limiting signals.
Information stored only on your device
Some BeeHeard features store data locally instead of sending it to our servers.
- Journal entries in the current web app are stored in your browser local storage and are not transmitted to BeeHeard servers unless you separately copy that text into another feature.
- Mobile authentication tokens may be stored on your device so you can stay signed in.
How we use information
- Provide core BeeHeard functionality, including account access, partner invites, messaging, Relationship Weather check-ins, Live Room sessions, Word Weave, and plan features.
- Authenticate users, prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, maintain account security, and investigate suspicious activity or misuse.
- Send service-related communications, including password reset emails, optional message notifications, optional Live Room notifications, and optional push notifications.
- Process subscriptions, verify purchases, manage billing access, apply plan limits, and keep internal records needed for accounting and support.
- Operate AI-powered analysis and rewrite features when you request them, and track usage metadata needed for plan enforcement and cost controls.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve BeeHeard, including fixing bugs, monitoring service reliability, and understanding feature usage at an operational level.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and security of BeeHeard, our users, and others.
How AI-powered features work
When you use BeeHeard message analysis or rewrite tools, BeeHeard sends the draft message text you provide, along with the selected mood, primary emotion, and chosen feelings, to OpenAI for processing so the requested output can be returned to you.
BeeHeard asks for your permission before sending that AI feature data to OpenAI in the app. If you do not grant permission, those AI features remain unavailable until you choose to opt in.
BeeHeard stores usage metadata about AI requests, including token counts, cost estimates, model name, feature type, and the structured result returned to your account context. BeeHeard does not store the original message text inside those AI usage logs unless you separately submit that text through another feature, such as in-app messaging.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- With your partner or connected account workspace when you use shared BeeHeard features, such as messages, Live Room activities, Relationship Weather, and other couple-based functionality.
- With service providers that help us operate BeeHeard, such as hosting and infrastructure providers, database providers, authentication providers, OpenAI for optional AI-powered analysis and rewrite features, email delivery providers, push notification services, realtime collaboration providers, and customer support tools.
- With payment providers and app store operators, such as Stripe and Apple, to process subscriptions, verify purchases, prevent fraud, and manage billing.
- With Google when you choose Google sign-in.
- When required by law, legal process, or a valid government request, or when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, investigate fraud, or enforce our terms.
- As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable confidentiality and legal protections.
Notifications and message previews
If you enable email notifications or push notifications, BeeHeard may send notices about new messages or Live Room invites. Those notifications can include a preview of message content.
Notification providers may process the email address or push token needed to deliver the notice. You can change notification preferences in the app settings or account area, and you can disable push registration from the mobile app.
Data retention
- We keep account, connection, subscription, and usage information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
- Shared relationship history may remain available to the other member of a connection after one user deletes their account. In the current product, deleting one account anonymizes that account and ends the connection, but shared couple data is only fully erased when every member on that connection has deleted their account or the data is otherwise no longer needed.
- Invite records, purchase records, security records, and support-related records may be retained for a reasonable period where needed for fraud prevention, compliance, accounting, or support.
- Data stored only on your device, such as local journal entries in the web app, remains under your control until you delete it from that device or clear the relevant local storage.
Your choices and rights
- You can update your profile name and notification preferences from within the product.
- You can delete your account from the BeeHeard account area. Deletion currently anonymizes your account record, removes registered push devices, ends active connections, and signs you out.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by contacting support@beeheard.io.
- If laws in your location provide additional rights, such as rights to know, access, delete, or correct personal information, or to appeal a denial of a privacy request, you may exercise those rights by contacting us.
Children’s privacy
BeeHeard is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information to BeeHeard, contact us and we will investigate and, where appropriate, delete the information.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, password hashing, access controls, secure token handling, and hashed invite tokens. We require our service providers, including OpenAI for optional AI features, to protect personal information with safeguards that are reasonably comparable to the protections BeeHeard uses for the data it handles on our behalf.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International processing
BeeHeard and our service providers may process personal information in countries other than the one where you live. By using BeeHeard, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations, subject to applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice through the app, website, or email when appropriate.
